Random picture

Hello,

Deze foto heb ik genomen tijdens een ballonvaart in September 2010. Hij is eigenlijk onderdeel van een grotere foto maar persoonlijk hou ik meer van de kleinere foto. Daar is de zon het onderwerp dat je aandacht trekt, in de grote foto is dit het gat in het wolkendek. Maar dat is mijn mening.

Laat me weten wat jij ervan vindt.

I took this picture during a balloon flight in September 2010. It’s actually part of a bigger picture, but I personally like the smaller one more because now the sun is the subject in this picture that’s drawing all your attention. In the bigger picture the gap in the clouds is the subject that’s drawing you attention. But that’s my opinion.

Finally spring!

Jullie hebben het vast ook gemerkt, de lente is er weer! En dat maakt me zo gelukkig. Ik hoef niet meer op te staan als het nog donker is en vrees elke ochtend dat ik me verslapen heb J

Het is al een hele week goed weer en dat betekent dat ik goed belichte foto’s kan nemen.

Zoals elk weekend trok ik er vandaag ook op uit om enkele kiekjes te nemen.

I think we al noticed it, spring is back! And that makes me so happy. I don’t need to wake up when it’s dark any more and I always think I’ve overslept J.

The weather has been good all week long and that means I can take pictures in the bright sunlight.

Like every weekend I went out and took some pictures.

Meensel Blues and first time shooting concerts

Vorige week zaterdag 12 maart was het Meensel Blues. Mijn papa zat mee in de organisatie en daarom vond ik dit een uitgerekende kans om een concert vanop de eerste rij te fotograferen. Ik wist nog absoluut niets af van fotograferen in minder verlichte plaatsen.

 Op de site www.froknowsphoto.com vond ik de informatie die ik nodig had om aan het eind van deze avond mooie foto’s te hebben.  Speciaal voor dit evenement kocht ik mij een 35mm f1.8 lens, hier volgt nog een review van. Deze lens is uitstekend geschikt voor in donkerdere plaatsen te gebruiken alsook voor portretten. Goeie lens voor een kleine prijs en als student en beginnend amateur fotograaf is dat alles wat je nodig hebt. Ze bewees haar diensten heel goed die avond alleen jammer dat ik niet kon inzoomen.

Ook voelde ik me lichtjes geïntimideerd door de fotografen die wel grote zoomlenzen bij hadden. Ik verdween dus ook snel weer op de achtergrond. Maar na de tweede groep veranderde dit opeens, ze vroegen mij of ik mijn foto’s na verloop wou doorsturen en dat gaf me zo een boost van zelfvertrouwen dat ik de rest van de avond voor en naast het podium bleef plakken. Jammer genoeg heb ik van die groep niet zoveel goede foto’s maar al bij al was het een zeer geslaagde avond. Ik heb veel geleerd.

The Blues Believers

Last week, the 12^th of March it was Meensel Blues. A little blues festival in my neighbourhood. My dad was involved in the organisation of it and so I found this a great opportunity to photograph a concert from the first row. I knew absolutely nothing about shooting pictures in low light situations.

On the site www.froknowsphoto.com I found all the information I needed to have beautiful pictures at the end of the evening. Specially for this occasion I bought the 35mm f1.8 lens from Nikkor. I will be reviewing it in the future. This lens is ideal to use for low light situations and also for portraits. It’s a good lens for a small price, so as a student and amateur photographer that’s all I need. It proved its capabilities well, it’s only a slight pity that I couldn’t zoom.

Also I felt slightly intimidated by the photographers who had big zoom lenses. So I disappeared quickly in the background. But after the second group it changed suddenly, they asked me whether I wanted to send them my photos and that gave me such a boost of self-confidence that I stayed near the stage for the rest of the evening.  Unfortunately I don’t have many good photos of that group but overall it was a successful evening and I’ve learned so much.

Vandaag licht ik toe wat me het meest interesseert binnen het vak fotografie. Ik hou enorm veel van macrofotografie en wil me daar nog meer in verdiepen. Als je door een vergrootglas naar de wereld kijk lijkt alles zo anders en zo magisch. Althans dat gevoel heb ik. De stampers van een bloem, de vleugels van een bij. Al die zaken maken macrofotografie zo leuk. Ik gebruik voor mijn macrofoto’s een nikkor 85mm F3.5 lens en een statief.

Ik kan niet wachten tot het terug volop lente wordt en de bloemetjes in bloei staan.

Today I’m going to talk about my favourite kind of photography. I love macro photography and want to learn more about it. If you look through a magnifying glass to the world, everything seems so different and so magical. At least that’s how I feel about it. The pistils of a flower, the wings of a bee. All these aspects make macro photography so much fun. For my macro photos I use a nikkor 85 mm F3.5 lens and a tripod.

I can't wait until spring is back and the flowers are in bloom.

Laten we beginnen met wie ik ben. Ik ben Katrien Pypen, een 21 jarige marketing studente uit Vlaams-Brabant, België. Wanneer ik niet achter mijn boeken zit ben ik meestal plezier aan het maken met mijn vrienden. Ik geniet heel graag van het leven en daar horen feestjes, uitstapjes en terrasjes bij. In het weekend ben ik meestal met fotografie bezig, deze bezigheid neemt tegenwoordig echter veel van mijn tijd in beslag. De passie is gegroeid en ik ben er dan ook zo goed als dagelijks mee bezig.

Deze blog gaat dan ook over fotografie en over hoe ik dit zie. Ik ben er nog maar zes maand mee bezig dus ik weet er nog niet zo heel veel van. Schiet me niet dood als ik een fout maak J je mag me altijd verbeteren of suggesties doen.

Ik ga proberen om minimaal twee keer per week te posten, elke post zal in het Nederlands en in het Engels zijn. Het kan gaan over random foto’s, reviews, materiaal dat ik gebruik, materiaal dat ik wil of gewoon mijn gedachtegang.

Let's start with who I am. My name is Katrien Pypen, I’m a 21-year-old marketing student from Belgium. When I'm not behind my books I'm usually having fun with my friends. I enjoy my life and that includes parties, trips and cafes. On weekends I'm usually busy with photography, this activity takes nowadays much of my time. The passion has grown and I am working on it on a daily basis.    

This blog is about photography and about how I see this. I only started six month ago, so I’m still learning a lot. Don’t shoot me if I make a mistake J you may always make suggestions or give tips on how I can improve my work.  

The plan is to post at least two times a week, each post will be in English and in Dutch. It can be about random photos, reviews, material that I use, material that I want or just my thoughts.
